ANDY WARHOL VIDEO ARTIST




In August 1965 Andy Warhol traded several self portraits with Richard Ekstract for the use of one of the worlds first home video cameras. Shown here using the camera creating video art with Edie Sedgwick Paul Morrissey , Paul America, Henry Geldzhaler and others. In one scene Warhol is making Outer and Inner Space, one of his classics. On Sept 29, 1965 these videos were shown by Warhol and Morrissey in a large underground railway space. This represents one of the first examples of what developed into video installation art, which Warhol spearheaded. Footage by Bruce Torbet
